Comparison of foam concrete and pumice

In this section, we compare the costs of flooring, using two traditional methods (pumice) and modern methods (foam concrete). To make this comparison, we consider the cost of flooring 10 square meters (which is approximately equivalent to the implementation of one cubic meter of foam concrete with a height of 10 cm).

Flooring with traditional method (puke)

For flooring of 10 square meters, less than one cubic meter (approximately 0.9 cubic meters) of pumice is needed. The price of each cubic meter of mixed pumice is about 34000 Tomans. So 30000 = 0.9 * 34000
A mortar of sand, gravel and cement is poured on the pumice and then trowel. The required sand for 10 square meters is estimated at about 0.3 cubic meters. So 1500 = 0.3 * 5000
At least one bag of cement is usually needed to produce the mortar. Assuming the average price of each bag of cement is equal to 6000 Tomans for transporting pumice, cement and sand required to the floors, an average salary of 5000 Tomans will be paid. (Shipping costs to different classes are different and this figure is calculated on average)
For muscle contraction of pipes, for every 10 square meters, an average of 500 Tomans will be spent. (Here we omit the cement used for muscle building)
Execution of floor construction by pumice, which includes spreading pumice on the surface, spreading sand and cement mortar on the pumice, and mortar troweling, is an average of 20,000 tomans for every 10 square meters. So in total we will have :
Tomans 63000 = (6000 + 30000 + 1500) + (5000 + 500 + 20000)

Flooring with light concrete method (foam concrete)

For flooring 10 square meters, assuming an average thickness of 10 centimeters, one cubic meter of foam concrete is needed. An average of 5 bags of cement are used to produce each cubic meter of foam concrete. (In case of using high quality foam, cement consumption can be adjusted to 4 bags) Assuming the above price for each bag of cement, we will have: 30000 = 5 * 6000
Foam for concrete execution varies depending on different conditions, such as project area, project location, working season, etc. Here, the average execution wage per cubic meter is assumed to be 18,000 Tomans.
Due to the fact that the cost of other materials required for the production of foam concrete (worker, foam, etc.) is the responsibility of the foam concrete operator, so the floor construction operation using foam concrete, will not incur any other costs. So in total we will have: Tomans 48000 = (30,000) + (18,000)
It can be easily seen: 63000 = 48000 + 31%
That is, pumice flooring is about 30% more expensive than foam concrete flooring. Therefore, the cost of flooring using foam concrete (regardless of the many advantages of this method) is economically less than the method of pumice. A summary of the above calculations is given in the table below:
